Today, Arizona leads the nation in semiconductor investment, supplier expansions and jobs. Since 2020, Arizona has won more than 60 semiconductor expansions, representing over $210 billion in capital investment – cementing Arizona as the home of America's semiconductor HQ.

Arizona is home to one of the most advanced semiconductor ecosystems in the world. The Arizona Semiconductor Asset Map makes it easy to discover businesses across the state, connect with workforce training partners and universities, and explore the state's innovative R&D facilities.
Governor Katie Hobbs announced the launch of the Future48 Workforce Accelerator at GateWay Community College to train Arizonans for the growing semiconductor industry. The Accelerator offers hands-on training and support services, including child care and transportation. This accelerator is part of a larger initiative to prepare Arizona’s workforce for advanced manufacturing roles, in collaboration with local community colleges and industry leaders.
Intel and Governor Hobbs launched the company’s first U.S. registered apprenticeship program for manufacturing facility technicians in collaboration with the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), SEMI Foundation, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, Maricopa Community Colleges, and the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Board.
Amidst heightened global demand and a steadily shrinking share of the world’s most advanced microchip factories, the Arizona Commerce Authority joined semiconductor industry leaders and stakeholders to launch the National Semiconductor Economic Roadmap (NSER). The industry-led effort aims to boost U.S. semiconductor competitiveness through a focus on the workforce, supply chain and infrastructure to support semiconductor research and development, design, manufacturing, and end-applications.
In March 2025, President Trump and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei announced a historic expansion of TSMC's advanced semiconductor operations in Arizona. TSMC will invest at least an additional $100 billion to build three more semiconductor fabs in Arizona as well as two advanced packaging facilities and a major R&D Center. The investment comes in addition to TSMC's three fabs already in operation or under construction in Arizona and will represent thousands of additional new jobs and a historic total investment of $165 billion.
TSMC's historic announcement cements Arizona as the epicenter of advanced chip manufacturing and innovation in America. With the country's most advanced chip-making processes, world class university partners, and a robust and growing talent pipeline, Arizona is powering the groundbreaking technologies of the future like AI. For over 40 years, Intel has introduced some of the most advanced, cutting-edge technologies in Arizona, well before they are released to the rest of the world. In fact, Arizona is home to Intel’s largest manufacturing site. In March 2021, the company announced it would invest an additional $20 billion into the state with two new semiconductor fabs.

PHOENIX, AZ (November 20, 2025) – Eight cutting-edge, defense-focused research and development projects have been selected for funding through the Regents Grant program, the result of a partnership between the Arizona Board of Regents and the recently established Arizona Office of Defense Innovation (ODI). This collaboration, designed to leverage federal investments in applied research, focuses on fostering dual-use innovations – supporting both commercial and national security markets – that strengthen Arizona’s tech ecosystem and national security capabilities. Each project will receive $90,000 to support technology validation, mentorship, and targeted commercialization training.

Customers, government officials including Governor Katie Hobbs, and dignitaries joined ASML executives to celebrate the facility, which began training engineers in 2024. Now fully operational, ASML anticipates the 56,000-square-foot facility will train more than 1,000 engineers annually. The new center in Phoenix is the only ASML facility in the U.S. with the capability to train engineers across all product lines: EUV, DUV and Applications (metrology and inspection systems that quickly and accurately measure pattern quality).

The first-in-the-nation Permit Finder seeks to reduce regulatory barriers and accelerate the pace of broadband expansion – supporting new economic opportunities for communities across the state. The Permit Finder consolidates permitting requirements into a centralized source, ensuring Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and subgrant recipients have access to important agency and contact information. The tool identifies for Internet Service Providers and other stakeholders the necessary permits and points-of-contact to advance broadband infrastructure.
